Fault Code 56
Guys,
I've just fitted a japanese import 1UZFE motor out of a 91 Celsior into an MX83 Toyota Cressida (aka Chaser) but have struck a problem with getting it to run properly.
On first starting the engine will rev freely for about 5 seconds at which time the engine check light comes on and the revs become limited to about 2000rpm. It is as though the rev limiter has been moved down to 2000rpm. As a side note, the check light also comes on if the ignition is turned on without actually cranking the engine.
The only fault code we can get out of it is 56 which is not listed in any of the documentation we have on either the LS400 or SC400. The local Lexus dealer has been extremely helpfull (and amused by the whole project) but was unable to find any reference to this code either.
Have any of you come across these symptoms or this error code and can offer a solution?? It's terribly frustrating having this angry sounding beast in the garage with the rev limit of a diesel engine
Cheers,
Darren.
