Default Changed Front Rotors - Question about pads ?

Hi all,

I've changed my front brake rotors from factory to EBC 3GB Sport, and just to ask...I kept the stock (lexus/toyota) brake pads as they are quite new (less than 1000 miles on them)...

Is that going to be OK (not going to damage the rotor or something)?

I will buy EBC green stuff, but first planing to finish these

should be ok but may need some time to break in since it is worn to the previous rotors. Take it easy on the brakes for a while

wont be too big a problem, but you really need to PROPERLY break in the pads. none of this "take it easy" nonsense.

You know what they say about opiinions

There are some differing opinions about this. On new pads and rotors maybe so but on used pads on new rotors I am not sure here are some links. It also depends on the pads that you have

Ok, I did a little more research and I think I have the best answer.

First season the rotors.

then bed in the brakes according to the brake pad manufacturer's recommendation (not all are the same)

Here is a good link

Well, ok, looks like I'm doing it OK, as in the bare beggining I was very gentle (like a 80 year old granny), and now I'm a bit rougher (but not like slaming on the brake).....

So far so good....
Hopefully it will be ok....

Thanks for all the info guys

Same method I use on my race cars and street cars.

scuff the pads with sand paper, then take it out and hit the brakes fairly hard a few times.....done deal
