Default IPOD connection for Stock Nakamichi

I have a 1998 Lexus LS400
Does anybody know what the connection options are for the back of the stock Nakamichi stereo? I want to have an IPOD connection but I don't want FM transmitter or Cassette adapter, anybody know if there is an option for usb or rca or line out?

Thanks,

Rich

Default Want to connect iPod to 1998 speaker system

I have a 1998 LS400 with navigation.
How would I go about connecting an iPod to the stereo? I do not know if there is an RCA plug at the back of the system but think there isn't. One person told me to attach a dual RCA plug into the wiring under the CD changer. Not sure about that.
Thanks.

Default iPod Integration for 98-00 LS400? Options?

What are my options guys?

I really wouldn't want to replace the radio because I've heard that many decks compromise the sound a little bit due to the power of the new double din unit. I've heard mix stories on requiring harnesses to not requiring harnesses. I hear for those replacing nakimichi factory radios, the bass isn't AS adequate.

Many systems such as GROM audio make products for Lexus but not sure if it will work for mine or if there are any other out there that will work for the 98-00 Lexus LS400. I could care less about disconnecting the glove box CD changer and replacing it with the iPod integration so it will charge and feed through the factory cd changer.

Please let me know my options! Thanks!

My, aren't we asking a lot of questions! ;-)

There are no aftermarket iPod interfaces available for any year of the LS400 other than tape cassette adapters which you do NOT want.

Many/most aftermarket head units have a dedicated iPod interface and also a 3.5 mm aux-in. I don't care for Apple products so I did not buy the inexpensive iPod interface cable that would have allowed control of an iPod from the screen of my Kenwood DDX470. I instead plugged a standard USB cable into the same port as the iPod cable would have used and plugged a USB flash memory containing music into it.

If you just want to add a 3.5mm aux-in to your OEM system you could do Puredrifter's CD cable hack or just send your head unit to Factory Radio Service in California like I did - big bang for $85 not including shipping: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls4...000-ls400.html

I just installed a universal iPod interface in my wife's Honda, apparently it works on any car, called an iSimple IS77, we got our off ebay for under $70, took me abut an hour to install, very straightforward and easy to use. She loves it, can run a jack or iPod cable, need to drill a small hole for the on/off switch, otherwise its hidden completely save for the cable. Future Shop wanted $140 installed for it.

I think that this "quiet" CD idea is AWESOME, and tappiing RCA or 1/8" stereo wires into/onto the factory CD player is a brilliant "hack" - you can always change to CD's number 2-6 to play music CD's installed, with CD#1 being blank on every cassette of 6 !!!
It would even work on Pioneer and Nakamichi CD changers - but only IF you know the color codes of the 2 wiring harnesses.
