Default Just bought an LS! ready for rims

hey guys I'm new here I just bought my 1996 LS400 2 weeks ago. I friend of mine was selling it so I decided i might as well look at it. After test driving it I had to have it! it has been kept in excellent condition with a maintanence book thicker than a novel.

I'm ready to put it on some rims now! right now it has the stock 16'' wheels with 225/60/16 tires. The car has been lowered 2'' on Tanabe springs so I'm wondering what will fit without rubbing. I dont want to mess with the camber or suspension! thanks everybody

I have a '92 ls. I personally talked to the tanabe reps about my wheel size (245/35/20) while i was researching what suspension set up that would not cause any rubbing. The rep, after talking for about 30 min.(a nice guy), assured me that the springs for my car would prevent rubbing with my wheel set up. With more research, i also found some owners who had the tanabes with my wheel size and they said they liked the ride. There wasn't any rubbing. My car is currently receiving the tanabe-kyb suspension set up before i put my new wheels and tires on. So i look forward to getting everything done so i can see how my car rides.

U can't go by that method of measurement. My 20s looked the same as your pics too. Anyhow,
20s can fit, you're just not going to have a ride that is as smooth as stock. But with the tanabes and the right tires (michelins, preferably) your ride should be okay. It just depends what you want and what you're willing to sacrifice.

The tanabes for your ls model are different from my model. But u shouldn't have to make any adjustments with the correct spring set up. The tanabes that came on my car aren't quite a 2" drop. My measurements are 1.8front/1.3rear. I talked personally to a tanabe rep to address my concerns about my measurements. I'm not exactly certain about the wheel measurements with a 2" drop on a second gen ls, especially since I have a first gen. So for confirmation call a tanabe rep at 310 783-0200. Tell them your wheel measurements with the tanabe spring set up you currently have (a 2" drop). This is the US location in Torrance, CA.

On the 2-LS, make sure you have proper brake caliper clearance or you'll wind up using spacers. PD's all over this one.

read up. https://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls4...ls400-faq.html

i really hope you dont put those cheapass chrome wheels on your car, completley ruin it in my opinion. that being said, you need to buy HIGH DISK wheels (aka wheels made to clear a big brake kit) otherwise you run the risk of having to use a spacer (generally 15mm) to clear.

tire size is dependent on the width wheel you have, if you're really low (you wont be unless your shocks are REALLY REALLY OLD causing the tanabes to lower your car more than 2") the 245/35-20 will rub on the inner fender liner, and maybe the outer fender depending on width/offset. if you wish, you can run a 225/35-20 with no ill effects provided it is rated to the proper weight.

fyi everyone. those are a friends rims, they are not going on the car. We were going to mount them to see if the size fit, but left the wrench at home.

I run 245/35 R20s on my '97 with 1/8" spacers in front, lowered on Megan coils, and I rub ONLY at full lock, and even then, it's just on the plastic fender liner. My fenders are also rolled, which depending on how aggressive you want your offset, you may have to do as well.
