Can anyone help

I am a new member
I recently removed my ash tray from dash to fix cig lighter
fixed this electrical short problem now cig lighter works
Traction button is included in ash tray assembly.

At the same time I removed the instrument cluster and had completely referbished .
Cluster now Perfect--- when I reinstalled Air Bag light on
Called referb company and told I must have started car without cluster
causing light to go on
Had reset by Gas station in NJ === Air Bag light is now OFF

Now noticed Traction (TRAC) light is on
Start car-- Trac off --drive 3 miles Trac goes on and stays on until I shut off car
this occurs all the time


My first question is about traction button on ash tray assembly
Perhaps I damaged when removing?
When traction button is pushed is it suppossed to stay in - engaged-
When pushed again extend out from dash?
My traction button when pushed goes in and returns out to original position .
Is this the normal way it works or should it stay in when pushed?
Is it possible starting car without cluster caused the Traction light to stay on as did the
air bag light indicator and simply needs resetting?

If I am confusing please ask me any questions -very appreciative of any help
