Hello, I've been a casual member of the forum for some time, but not an owner until now. I just purchased a 96 LS400 decent condition, but has some minor issues.

One issue buggin me now is the Rear Driver-side, Power Door lock has intermittent function, sometimes it unlocks and sometimes it doesn't using the Lock/Unlock switch on the Driver's door.
I did some searching on the forum and couldn't find anything or similar issues. Is the power door lock actuator a common wear part?
I don't wanna take the door apart before asking in case there is a simple fix. Thanks for the help.

They are not wear items. They work, then they don't work.

Your diagnosis will tell you if it is the actuator or the wiring. As you actuate the door lock control on the driver's door, see if the rear lock button is making a half-hearted attempt to move. If it is, the wiring is good and the actuator is likely to be bad or there is exceptional mechanical resistance in the links or door latch assembly. If it is just dead dead dead, it could be a wiring issue.

It could be a fitment issue. My 90 had this problem with the rear-passenger side door lock. I never really tried to fix it, but it seemed to not work more when it was warm/hot out. I thought it had something to materials expanding when warm. I suggest removing the panel and check out how it all fits together. Or you could put some of that white grease lubricant between the moving lock latch and the housing as a first try.

My 98 does the same thing, same door (driver's rear). I watched the lock and it does attempt to move when I use the FOB. I will try to grease it up when it gets a little nicer out.
