fluctuating RPM's on accel
1990 LS
does anyone else notice that from a rolling acceleration, let's say from 30 to 40mph, that the RPM levels go up, then down, then up again?
For example at 30 mph, I will push the gas pedal in enough to moderately accelerate to 40. My RPM's go from 1400 to 2000, then it revs down to 1850-1900, then go back to 2000 and then car moves. This happens in about 1-2 seconds.
Now, if I do the same thing with the overdrive off, it is especially noticeable. The RPM levels actually drop even more, and it happens quicker. Like in bursts.
Anyone else notice this?
134K miles, sparks changed in 1998. Time for new ones? Any other clues?

.........does anyone have their TPS report?
if your rpm's fluctuate and feels like tha car is jerking it could possibly be your tps(throttle position sensor)...might be wrong may be right.. anyone agree with me?

fluctuating RPM's
I would clean the fuel injectors, and also try replacing the PCV valve, it might be clogged. The PVC cost under $10.00 and is easy to replace. I had a similar problem with my other car, and the problem went away. Plus the acceleration is much better.

Try disconnecting your neg side of battery for 1 hour to reset your ECU. This will allow your computer to learn your driving habits, just like having a new car.
