I wanted to install and remote start in my 1998 LS400 but have tried searching and cannot really find any information on it, I'm pretty shocked. Has anyone done this? The big V8 takes a while to heat up (especially here in MN).
I saw the vehicel colors at the12volt dot com but also would think the vehicle will need a bypass of some sort.
I did alarm and remote starter on my 91 way back and it was easy. Planning on doing the same thing on the 98 that I just got. Just waiting on to find a good system at a good price. For 98, I think we'll need the transponder bypass, which might requires a chipped key tied along the ignition somewhere. Never done any remote start on cars with transponder key, so, I'll need to do some more researches, but it can be done quite easy enough. I'll let you know how it goes if I can find a system soon enough.

Word of warning. If you decide to have this done, spend the money to make sure a certified technician install the unit or you will be in for a world of hurt. I bought my 93 ls400 last march. A week after I got it home the check engine light came on and the car ran as though the ECU was bad. I had the ecu repaired and the car ran great for 10,000 miles. Suddenly the problem returned but 10 times worse. The CEL would come on and the car would shut down. No code could be pulled from the ecu. After pulling the panels under the steering wheel I discovered that a remote start system had been HACKED into the original harness by the previous. Thats when I discovered that I could make the running engine shut off by shaking the harness. It took me all of satuday and sunday to remove that crap and repair the damage. I have since put 3000 miles on her without any problems.
You have to splice that remote start into the critical harness so make sure it's done right.
i have one but it goes into a loop when i activate it..it starts, runs for 30 seconds or so then shuts off and repeats itself until i hit the correct buttons...its an expensive viper installed by a professional...i just dont even use it

If it was expensive and installed by a professional, then why it goes into a loop when you activate it? And why do you have to hit the correct button? Didn't you have to hit the correct button to activate it in the first place? So, is it a faulty system or was it done purposedly that way?
i am probably going to get the module that has a application on my iphone so i can start it/lock and unlock the doors anywhere as long as i have reception.

Which one or the model number that can work with iphone app? Plus, is there an Iphone app that would work with Viper alarm? I'll do more search on this because that would be very interesting and up to date. If you have any more info, please let me know. Thx.
