Just wanted to make sure you went down the list before changing the rack. I think the majority of power steering issues is dirty filter in the solenoid and in the resevoir. What symptoms are you having that makes you think it is broken?

As far as changing the rack. I changed the rack on a camry and it was not very difficult. From the looks under there it looks similar on the lexus.

The rack is trashed...where do I begin...boots are dissolved lol, makes all kinds of noises, leaks like a faucet, theres so much play its ridiculous....car has 189K miles still with original set.....its about that time..

I also have to fix/replace the power stering pump and hose but that will be another day.
