On my old Supra it was a chintzy little shock absorber that connected to an inner tie rod. I just disposed of mine.

Number 9 in the illustration. Yes looks like a shock absorber. Cost 130 to 200 at the stealership

Usually off road (4x4) trucks have them but I guess lexus wanted less vibration to get to the steering wheel. It also helps in better tracking during highway driving so you do not have to correct so often

I took the damper off and it definetely is not good. On the damper it has the toyota part number but it also has a PL09 part number with KYB under it. I wonder if it the same as this stabalizer

Hello All, new to the forum here.

I replaced tie rods in/out and ball joints. I couldn't get the damper bracket loose, so I made an executive decision to zip tie the darn thing up and forget about it. It doesn't seem to make too much of a difference but there is some chatter in the steering wheel, that is driving me insane. However, I went with one size wider tires in the front, which might be the source. My alignment guy told me that the LS400 has a lot of camber in it so the damper is there to mitigate the chatter. I'm going to switch back to the original tire size and see where that lands me.
