'91 pulls hard to left while braking...but it will sometimes 'go away' if I hit the brakes hard two or three times in a row, and start braking normally til I turn the car off.

Also, some times when braking, and it's pulling, the brake pedal will 'step down' and then it will stop pulling til I turn the car off.

Combination stuck caliper/master cylinder?

Maybe a bad caliper but I'd check the sliders on the front calipers first. They might be binding up. They should move in and out freely. You can take them out, clean them up and lubricate them. You should only use a silicone paste lubricant on them. If you try and put a regular grease on them, you run the chance of the grease swelling up the small rubber bushings on the ends of the sliders and then they won't slide at all. One product that's sold at Autozone in small packets called Sil-Glyde will work okay.

Most probably a bad front caliper. Either have it out and overhaul it or get a new or used one.

Replaced the front caliper..Noticed after the install that I had forgotten to swap out the old hardware for the new (sliders, rubber boots, washers, etc).

Still pulling to the left. Guess I'll swap out the sliders and see if that fixes it.

As a side note, I had new tires put on the car last week. While removing the tire I found out that one of the lugs was cross-threaded..

I broke it off by hand. Am I a badass or is that typical?

a pull while braking is more than likely a suspension problem,unless one of the calipers is completely stuck and wont move..do man means the rear trailing arm bushing,that will cause the car's body to shift,not pull. if u brake and take ur hands off the wheel does the car actually change lanes?

Yeah it pulls hard enough to jerk me in to another lane.

It's weird though. If I hit the brakes hard four or five times after starting the car it will brake normal til the next time I shut the car off. If I don't hit the brakes hard it will pull, but eventually the brake pedal will 'step' down a little and it'll brake normal from there on out.

Slides, brake line maybe? Going to swap out the slides this evening.

I know first hand that those slides can cause problems if they're frozen or not moving freely. What your describing as far as the brake pedal, I experienced before re-doing all of my slider pins / bushes.

Well, I replaced the slides, bushings, and brake pad clips.

Still the exact same problem. Could it be the rubber brake line from the caliper to the wheel well? My mechanic friend seems to think that might be it.

Did you have any trouble bleeding the new right front caliper when you installed it? Have you tried bleeding all four corners?

No, it bled off fine, and I have not bled off all four. Brakes seem firm. Odd that it's doing the same thing still..

I'm going to just deal with it for now, then order a braided brake line kit on the 30th and install it when it comes in, since I've been wanting to do that anyways.
