According to a previous poster, pre-96 ls400's don't have sensors in the cats. So..no check engine lights here. Just cut the cats off and I'm good so far

Nope. Just the three cats. Two bolted to the manifolds and a third in the center.

i think that center one is more of a resonator than a cat...ive deleted that and the 2 resonators...running straight pipe true dual exhaust into 2 magnaflow mufflers....next week im probably gonna chop off the cats and throw in a magnaflow muffler as a resonator.

I think it sounds like that because of the exhaust leak.

Ok I would like to do this as well when I get my car back tomorrow. I am in North Ga (squeal like a pig) and we aint got no ermissions laws up yunder. Sounds very nice and I like the idea of free flowing exhaust..I have asked a few mech about it and they all dont wanna do it tho. Gonna try my fav muffler shop this week. If I had a lift we could do it at work. I got torches and welders on staff!

Default Similar Problem

I recently purchased a 95 LS400. Ran perfectly for about 2K. My CEL light came one and I began having the same issues as the original post (missing, jerking, etc). I smelled the cats, decided to run straight pipe. That didn't fix it. I decided to do a basic tune up on it, plugs, wires, air filter. It worked great for about a month, then the same original problem, only worse. Now, if I give any more throttle than a tiny bit, the car acts like it wants to stall and will not accelerate and it is almost impossible to go up a hill unless I shift into low and romp on it. The check engine light is on and the TRAC OFF light is flashing. Autozone would not give me the code number, only told me that it was the O2. Replacing the O2 would not help, right? Because the CATS are gone now. IDK. This is my first Lexus (changed from BMW, finally) and I have no idea where to go next. Any help would be very appreciated. Thanks.
