Default front break pad change

I was looking at the tutorial lexls for front break pad replacement. Will this procedure apply to my 97 or is the break system different for the 90-94 model they demonstrate?
Thanks

thats only if you're changing the rotor.

otherwise i's remove spring clip, big flat spring retainer, 2 pins, pads, push pistons back, insert pads, go in reverse.

just bought OEM pads will put in this weekend. Is the use of brake quiet needed on the shims or is it optional?

I would use it. I've seen it at the auto parts stores up by the cash register in a little foil packet for a buck or two...no need to buy a ton of it.
