Default New 99 LS owner Air suspension questions you have all heard before .

I have been lurking doing some a research for about a month and would like to start my first post by saying .Yes ! I think I may have bought one of the Best cars ever Built ? Thanks to this site .

So here is the first of many stupid questions .

Do you have any recommendations for air ride replacements ?
or even on Air ride repair upgrade etc ?
If l did replace with spring/shock etc I want a little drop not much though just enough to take the grandpa out of the ride while still keeping its trip to the golf club luxury feel ? is that even possible ? its my wife's daily driver and she wont let us go bigger than 17 and she likes the stock chrome 16 's ( yuk ) too .
Then there are the air shocks are they even rebuildable ?

We just love this car by the way is like breath of fresh air when you get into it after a long day at work AWESOME.

I am looking for one Chrome 16 inch oem rim too if anyone has any ideas ?

Check out Strutmasters.com or Arnott Industries for suspension conversions.

The factory '98-00 16" 5 slot wheel looks much better with the machined aluminum finish vs chrome.

Yes of course most things having to do with "looks" are a matter of opinion and your point is that you are merely pointing that out.....?

That's odd, my Mechanic ( Virgil at Toymasters ) mentioned he had installed some 430 rims on a 400 which were 16 x 7 and that they lookd factory and alot smarter than the chromies I already have .
Do you know anywhere either in the LA area or wherever l may find some ?
In truth I would like some 17s but after buying the car ,doing engine and trans mounts , powersteering , caster arms and turned front discs and new 225 16s to get the car wifeworthy The little lady would kill me .I could justify "new" rims but not another set of tires.
Thanks again

he's talking about the same 16s that were standard on all 2000 Platinum series LS400s.

looks like this:

PureDrifter is most likely correct, those wheels came standard on the 2000 LS400 Plat Series and on the 2001-2003 LS430, but with a bit different finish. The only other 16" wheel that came from the factory on the LS430 are the ones I just bought for my 97 LS. I actually like the wheels with the machined alum finish in the pic the PureDrifter posted, but for $400 for 4 very clean wheels and good Michelins, I can't complain. Thanks Craig's List.
