Question 00 LS400 Fog HID Convo question...

Recently purchased a 2000 LS400 Platinum, HIDs, Nav, Blk on Blk. I already had a set of yellow HIDs (in working order) and attempted to install them in the fogs. Plugged em in and noworkie haha. Does the LS have a bulb fault system that would cause this? I reinstalled the oem bulbs and they work normally.

I've done some searching and no luck

I appreciate any help!!!

What do you mean by "Plugged em in". Is this an HID kit with ballasts powered from the battery and triggered through a relay connected to the ballasts, car battery and triggered by one of the OEM foglight connectors?

If you get them to work, I'd sure be interested in seeing a photo of the light pattern to see how much light scatter there is. The foglights on my 00 LS are the weakest I've had on a car.

Please don't out HIDs in the fogs. The housings weren't designed for that. Your only going to **** off oncoming traffic with the glare.

no you won't, the fogs dont point up, and given the proper focal length and design on the bulb, you'll just light up the area you're supposed to.

you can aim the foglights you know...

It's a plug n play kit, I used the same type on my 2008 Lexus IS250.
Yeah I'll post pics when I get em working.

Nah, they point so low it wont matter. Plus air ride is gonna be on within the next few weeks!

Make sure you don't have your wires mixed up, I remember installing a HID kit and I accidentally switched the pos and neg cables and the thing wouldn't turn on. once I switched it back they fired right up.

^ Haha yeah thx, they are made so they can only plug in one way. I had this same problem on my IS and it turned out being a bulb out feature... hmmm gonna work on it more this weekend!

which kit are you using? the LS has the pos. and neg. terminals in the foglight connector reversed. if you're using a generic 9006 conversion kit make sure to swap them around.

Your 9006 wire harness is reversed , rotate it and it works fine.
I have had HID's in my fogs for 4 or 5 yeas now. I also took out the scatter shield which made it double the output and widen the beam.

Talking h.i.d. fogs.... priceless!

Yeah +1 on crossing the wires. If a kit comes with a laser calibrated bulb it will keep the light pattern of the stock bulb pretty good since the h.i.d. light source is in the same spot as the filamentin the stock 9006 bulb.

For anyone interested, hid fogs are priceless on long trips. I go from socal to norcal often and it made a huge difference! Hwy 5 is long and dark! LOL!

Hey skperformance you mind sharing the info on removing the scatter shield? I'm pretty sure many of us would be interested in increasing the output.

Want to see pics of mine or his ?
You've seen my hids before. I did just switch back to yellow bulbs since my last ones blew.
I made a post 3 or 4 years ago on the scatter shield , do a search should be easy to find.
