Driver's Side Speakers not Working '93 LS400
The speakers on the Driver's door and the speakers on the rear right door are not working. No sound and no hissing or other noises. All of the other speakers are working normal. I know this by turning the left / right speaker control and also the front / back fade control.
Any ideas what is happening?
I have searched and cannot find a similar thread. Sorry if there is one that I didn't see.
Thanks!
Chuck

Before you go ahead, you'll need to know that the OEM speakers are very expensive only because they're OEM. I.e. replacement is not an option. (Well, unless you consider $250 per speaker cheap. You'll have to pay for the plastic box too.)
A nice upgrade is to replace the OEM speakers with better ones. E.g. 5.25" component speakers for the front and only 5.25 mid-range woofers in the back. (That will mimic the OEM setup, i.e. there's only one pair of tweeters in the car, which is in the front door posts.) If you want to keep the OEM headunit and amplifier, try to find 2 ohm speakers, like JBL etc. which gives you a lot of sound without too much power. (I went further with my audio system, but that is actually quite a lot of work compared to widening the boxes a bit.)
You can find very good tutorials on http://www.lexls.com, where the body and audio sections is relevant. (There are lots of hidden screws in inner door sides and the tutorials points all of them out.) Apart from that, on top of the threads list in this very forum is a sticky thread named "Ls400 audio setup thread", where you'll find a lot more information, do's and don'ts and howto's.

When the passenger side speakers on my 00 LS (Nakamichi system) stopped working I assumed the amp was the problem -- until I tested my amp in a friend's car and it worked fine. The problem was resolved by resoldering the wires to the balance control **** in the head unit -- this company in Florida fixed it: http://www.carstereohelp.com/
If the problem turns out to not be the speakers, consider giving these guys a call.
