Default Will it hurt to bypass the BVSV??????

I found out that my BVSV was broke... so I am going to be ordering it but I was wondering if it will hurt to bypass the valve and drive the car without it for a couple days...

I don't fully understand what it does??

thanks

Im not sure i completely understand what it totally does... If i am correct, there is a metal thermo switch in there. It reads of the coolant temp, and as the switch wamrs up it either applies or takes away vacuum from whatever it is supplying. I just unpluged mine, and silicones the nipples just cause. I don't notice any ill effects, but I dont have EGR so this might affect that system, however I did it, and I don't notice any difference, as the ECU still idles the car down once it reaches op temp... Good luck, just try bypassing it, and see what happens..

I actually did bypass it... I needed my car... seems to run fine... I think I read somewhere if you block off the lines so you don't get any vacuum it can cause knock... but who knows....

i just don't feel like spending 40 bucks on the stupid sensor if I really don't need it.....

Yeah, I hear ya. I will state that most 90's Toy/Lex cars/trucks came with BVSVs..., they should all come with the same pipe thread that we used. I ebay'd and found a few of them, however I did like you did. Sorry I wasn't any help, any don't worry about what people "say", find out for yourself.

Well, I had my throttle body cleaned and it tripped a CEL light... code 71. I took it back and they cleaned the EGR system, but the light came back on and after this I can hear a faint knock at idle when everything is turned off. I was told it could be the EGR exhaust leak. I took it back to the shop and mechanic said it was a BFI valve, but my dad (who picked it up for me) may have misunderstood. I was told he could have meant it was this valve. Strange it went haywire after the throttle body was cleaned. I am now wondering if this is the knock I am hearing and if I plug it will it stop the knock and fix my CEL light? Where is it located and what all processes to cap it off? Any pics? Thanks.
