Default Just got my Megan Coilovers

For people who have them - how long from start to finish on the install? Should I plan a day or is this something I can finish in a few hours at night?

I had a shop put mine on, and that took three days (LONG story on that...posted here a few weeks ago).

I believe Schnitz installed his in around 6-7 hours, and I've heard others on the board install the coilovers themselves in less than a day.

If you do them yourself, just make sure you know what you're doing. Your suspension is definitely not something you want to screw up. If you've got all the know-how, then by all means go for it.

Better to take your time and get it right the first time

i can do mine in under 3 hours if i just sit there and go at it. practice helps a lot, it takes me longer to carefully take the rear seats out than it does to swap the rear struts lol.

Ya the shop I had install mine took 4 hours to install and then another 2 hours for fine tuning.
Fine Tuning = up and down on the hoist about 6 times along with removing and putting the wheels back on, raising and lowering it to find good ride height/quality)

Average about 4 hours.

Tips:
Make sure both tires are off the floor of the side you're working on, front or rear.
Remove the front upper arm to make removing the front struts easier.
For the rear, it takes a lot of twisting and finding the exact angle to remove the rear struts.

That's all i can think of.

Thanks. I'm gonna do it this Saturday. Any other tips anyone wants to throw in? I have all the tools, driveway is flat too. This will be my first time installing coilovers. My step dad who has worked on cars for years is going to help me.

Gonna pull the backseat out tomorrow - Hope this isn't too much of a pain.

I can install them by raising the front (doing the fronts) and then raising the backs, right? Or should I have the car off all 4s when doing this and setting the coilovers?

What is the hardest part of the install?

for the rears i used PDs trick...get another jack and jack up the hub until the shock pops out (after removing the 19mm bolt of course).

Putting in coils is quick

the front might take a little longer and the rears are a lot easier.

good luck!

When doing the front it would be wise to change your strut rods, if.they have not been done.

Just removed the back seat. Took about 15min. Thought it'd be harder. Simply pulled on the bottom seat which clicked out and then removed the bolts, lifted up on the back part which then popped out.

Found some old Film under the seat, kind of creepy.
