93 LS400 engine miss
Hello All,
I just became a new registered member so please forgive my ignorance on proper protocol. I just purchased a 93 LS400 with 212,000 miles. For what I paid for it, it was a good deal. However, as I cruise down the road the engine seems to surge or have a miss. Upon slight accleration, it misses or skips. I can step on it and it seems to take off good. Supposedly, the previous owner put new plugs, distributor and rotor caps, etc. I have a bit of mechanic skills. There may be a past thread on this topic, but I did not find one. Again, I am a newbie. Just thought I would throw this out to see what ideas any of you may have. Thanks in advance!

Hey, thanks for the reply! No, there is no check engine light on. However, I have noticed that when I turn the key to the "on" position, I do not see the check engine icon light up. Could it be possible the check engine light is not working? Thanks for the link. I will check it out.

OK. I will see what I can do. However, by replacing the bulb and getting the check engine light to work, how will this help with the engine miss? Can I do any trouble shooting (engine wise) to help determine what is the cause of the miss?

Thanks again for the info. I have not had time to remove the instrument cluster to replace any blown CEL bulb(s). Would I just be throwing money at the problem to replace the AFM before bulb replacement? Can a fautly AFM cause and engine miss? Thanks for all your help!
