my check engine light just went on a couple of weeks ago and found out the code 25 which means i have to change my o2 sensors....my question is im on a tight budget so should i get universal ones of wait a little and buy oem ones...?
whats the difference....? im i suppose to replace all four of them..?

according to pure drifter its ok to use universal, im against it but i guess if its done correctly u can get away with it

I was going to go with an NTK but it was nearly 120$ more than a universal.

I went universal. Working fine so far and my check engine light is now off.


As to how long it'll last, well who knows, but I wasn't willing to pay that much more for the same function at this time. (dropped a lot of cash on the car in the past week)

I paid $70.00 each (before Bing 10% Cashback) for Denso 234-4211 which is OEM. They click right into the existing harness so it was a DIY procedure for me.

This is the correct # for the "front", Pre-Cat Sensors. 94LS

Worked like a champ to because my CEL went out & I passed inspection with flying colors yesterday.

I bought universal ones for about $40 a piece, they work like a charm. If you are ok with cut the old harness plug off the old o2 sensor and solder it into the new sensor, you are good to go. If not, shell out the extra bucks for the fool-proof one.

The number Damon provided is a direct fit. It has a plug on the end of it that plugs right into the vehicle. Denso makes a lot of OEM parts for Toyota/Lexus so they could very well be the original OEM. They're available all over the Internet, including Amazon.com...

The Denso site clains they are the oem for this part.

I am 99% sure Toyota does not make O2 Sensors, they just buy it from a supplier (like Denso) and then charge us double.

For sure. Toyota is one of the largest companies in the world, they probably own a large % of USA Inc.

Is it really necessary for these to be replaced? Mine's been throwing a P0161 code for a few weeks, which indicates that the heater circuit for the O2 sensor is bad, but the car is still running fine, and actually getting improved gas mileage? Besides OBD-2 inspection reasons, is there a reason these need to be working if the car is doing fine without them, so maybe I can wait until the inspection is due to get it fixed?
