Replacing emblems on '96 LS400
Replacing the tarnished gold emblems on my LS400 with fresh chrome emblems. Then best price I can find for OEM is about $125. Unsure about aftermarket fit and quality. Anybody have a better price or idea out there? Thanks!

Thanks for the advice, steveski. I went ahead and bought a chrome emblem kit from Sewell's (less than $90 shipped!) and it supposedly comes with a removal tool. I'm kinda impatient so I may go ahead and remove them with fishing line before the kit arrives. Glad I posted on the forum. Lots of good feedback.
On a related note, is there a good way to remove the gold finish from the door locks and the antenna? I'm considering carefully using steel wood to remove the tarnished gold while hopefully maintaining a shiny silver finish. Any ideas?

I just went through removing the gold emblems from my newly acquired pearl white '97. The kit I bought from Sewell included a chrome antenna bezel and the removal tool (which I used after after the goo gone had soaked in and got the dental floss started).
The antenna bezel comes off pretty easy with a pair of channel lock pliers, I simply put some elec. tape on the jaws and on the paint around the antenna mast to prevent scratches. This took about 2-3 minutes start to finish. Removing the old glue took over an hour though, but with a combination of goo gone and meguiar's cleaner wax it got it all off. If there weren't any register holes I would have simply left the car debadged, it looked really nice.
