LS400 EGR Code 71
Hi all.
First of all, YES I have read all the EGR posts from previous.
My issue is a bit different.
I have a high mileage LS400 1991.
After about 60km (40miles) the car CEL comes on. This ONLY happens at highway speed. I replaced the EGR valve, and modulator with used ones from another motor. I also cleaned all the carbon out of the port holes where the EGR goes on. I know new EGR would be better, but new is $500, used is $40
I replced the filter in the modulator with a filter from the air cleaner of my gas RC car. Its the same size, but bit diff material.
Anyway, the light still comes on just like before.
Q: Should I just bypass (delete) the damn thing? Anybody had any luck with that? We have no emissions testing here. I have to drive 1000 kms at end of monht, and I would rather not do it with CEL on all the way. A/C is broke also, and CEL will cause extra sweating.
Forgot to mention, car runs fine, shifts fine with CEL/Trac indicators on. Burns a bit rich if anything. Other than that, runs fine.
