Lightbulb ls400 antenna hole plug!

So my antenna broke on my 94 ls400, as in the mast broke and the antenna wont go all the way down anymore. So i had some options.
One was to go buy a mast and take out the antenna motor and open it up and replace the mast.
Two was to leave the antenna as is stick out always eventually will be broken by some idiot or the automatic car wash.
Three was to take out the antenna rod itself, but then that leaves a hole.
I then think about it. I dont really use the radio since i have my ipod and it looks kinda goofy with the antenna always up.
So i chose to take out the antenna. The motor still works fine.
I then tested all the FM radio stations and it still works great, i tested it everywhere.AM still works too but i only tried some of them since I dont listen to AM.
OK so now to that hole thats still there.I didnt want water or anything going in there so i needed to find something to plug it.
I hit up the hardware store and looked around for quite a bit then i found it!
Its called a Nylon Hole Plug, kind of like a plastic cap and it cost about 25 cents(prices may vary)
I bought 3 different sizes.3/16 1/2 and 9/16 just to be sure.
And the one that fit was 3/16!Fits tight and snug. Perfect!
sorry for the blurry pics i used a really cheap camera. haha

What about having that taken out and shaving the hole. If anybody thinks this would be clean let me know. I will be shaving mine off completely. Ill post pics of this and the car alltogether when I am done. BUT THE PLUG LOOKS GOOD I LIKE THAT good idea.

nice.. thats a great idea.
the thing that makes that a little hard for some to do is the price, unless your doing it yourself then its a different story.
looking forward to see how it looks, havent seen one done yet.

Hi,

why dont you just get a new antenna mast and change it? You dont even have to take out the motor!
The Radio actually has an antenna mode to take out the mast!

i thought about that, but i kinda didnt want the antenna to stick out anymore. plus i have an aftermarket headunit.
i will eventually do it if i decide to sell the car which is probably never. haha

I would like to eliminate my power antenna, and get one of those "in car" antenna's that stick to the front or rear windshield, but they seem to get mixed reviews on performance.
Does anyone have experience/recomendations?

i'll probably go this route if i keep it long enough to justify paint.

mine came with a slightly bent antenna, which i replaced with an ebay part (DOH!). the cord immediately pulled out of the mast and i maniged to get it stuck in the motor.

i've done some research and this seems to be a pretty good option at a big discount over the labeled part:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/NEW-H...Q5fAccessories

problem is you need to mount it outside of the metal chassis for best results. not sure where would be suitable. behind a bumper perhaps?
