Default Buying an 2000 ls 400

im thinking about picking up a white 2000 ls 400 from a lexus dealership here in canada. it has about 145 km which equals to 90 miles with tan interior, exterior + interior is mint condition, they have services records since day one, all maintence is up todate. thier asking price is $16,000, which i think is a lil high, i was thinking of trying to get the price down to like $14,000 all in. if i were to purchase the car at 14,000 u guys think its worth it or it be still too high for teh current car market?

Hey man, I'm in Calgary and I think I know the car you are talking about (dealership).

I think that it's a pretty decent deal if it's mint. 145k is nothing for a LS, Not even a third dead yet!
If you get it congrats but get it as low as you can, they have been advertising it for awhile.

The big question is - was the timing belt replaced? That should be done at 90k miles - which this one is at. This is an expensive service so hopefully it's already done. The water pump is usually done during this service also.

spotty - yah its up in edmonton the guy told me teh price was reduce from 19,000 so i guess it been on the market for awhile. ima try use that to my advantage, you think if i ask for 13,000 it be a lowball?

Madmax - the guy told me timing belt was done, and have records for that as the car was services at that dealership.

Pure - finding 98 - 2000 ls in canada is quite hard been looking for months and thier like less then 10 for sale within the whole country at the moment

I recently bought a 2000 here in Ontario. I paid $13k CDN incl. taxes etc.. out the door. Mine had 103k kms and all the service records. That being said I had the timing belt, water pump etc.. replaced immediately to the tune of $1200 CDN (total $14 200). So I figure if you can get that one for $14k CDN all in your in good shape.
That's $12k US at todays exchange rate and definitely a good deal even in the US market (from a little research on Autotrader).

i purchased my 2000 LS last summer here in the states. Mine was also mint, all records and had 43,000 miles. Paid $15,000. I felt it was a little high, but honestly there was a line of people wanting to buy this car. I couldn't believe it. SO i just stepped up since i was the first one there to look and made the offer. As i was leaving two more people showed up and were asking about the car.

It has been a wonderful vehicle. Only thing that has gone south on it is the damn tilt/telescopic wheel. It won't telescope anymore and when you start the car, it will only tilt halfway down by itself. You can then use the button to lower it more. Kind of a pain, but that's it.
