Default 94 LS overheating, yes i searched.

Alright guys i need your help. my mom's 94 LS has started to overheat randomly. Usually the AC is on. No heat will come from the the vents even on max heat. The heat control valve is opening.

Guys i need your help. I tried draining the system per LEXLS directions but i even took out the drain plugs and no coolant drains. It seems to be clogged somehow. The Radiator drains fine but no coolant will come out the left and right plugs. what should i do??

I need to flush her system. Yall got any ideas?

Thermostat is probably shot.... change the thermostat, that should free up. Then try and run it again and see if when it gets up to running temp, if the top and bottom coolant hoses are about the same temp to the touch.

change the thermostat, if it still heats up change the radiator if it has never been changed.

You may also want to check out the amount of debris that has gathered on the front of your radiator.

I was absolutely shocked. Looked like mine (94LS) had been in a flood!
Leaves, feathers, all kinds of crap.

thanks for the advice guys! The thermostat was a cheapie from autozone so that coulda been part of the problem. I changed it out with an OEM model. I can't stress it enough. PLEASE USE OEM ONLY! prices are similar to aftermarket but quality is VERY different. I compared the autozone one to the toyota one. Toyota was much heftier, thicker and heavier. i really think it makes a difference!

So today i bought one of the prestone super flush at wally world for 2.50. Drained as much coolant as i could, put the super flush and filled back with water along with the toyota thermo.

Car refused to overheat! and i tried to get it too! Also there was heat from the vents! hooray! I'm gonna drive with that stuff in the system so it cleans it out thoroughly and fill with some new coolant. I'm just gonna use some PEAK brand long life coolant. I'll check it and probably drain and refill with oem red later this year. Dont wanna waste the red stuff @ $20+ a gallon.

damon how did you clean your radiator?

i hope that super flush cleaned out all the gunk!

any more advice guys?
