Default Just bought a new 98 LS400...have some questions.

Hi,

I just bought a 98 LS400 about 3 days ago.

Up until yesterday, the car was perfect, except for 1 little issue, The trunk would not open with the remote. It would, however open with the key and from the inside of the car. This issue does not bother me too much although it would be nice to know how to fix it.

One thing that is bothering me is the fact that ever since yesterday, every time I try to start the car, the alarm activates. I quickly press the unlock button in the remote and the alarm stops. Today, I experimented with removing the horn fuses, and now the car will not start.

Can anyone help me with this? Can I remove the negative battery cable and try to reset the system?

Has anyone had this issue before?

Your feedback is highly appreciated.

make sure you're HOLDING the trunk button down to open the trunk.

also, replace the battery, it's most likely the problem.

PureDrifter, thanks for the feedback.
I am definitely holding the button down for a few seconds, but nothing happens.
It is possible the battery might be low, so I will try that.

However, regarding the issue of the alarm activating, I don't think it's related to the remote.
I started the car recently and it seems to work fine now, but I'm not sure if it will keep giving me problems.

I'll keep you all updated.

BTW, I'm impressed with the amount of quiet comfort and power the LS4 has. It's faster than I thought, and the turning radius is very small compared to other bigger cars I've driven. This car is a dream.
The only thing I wish it had is the HID headlamps.

Thanks.
