$1,500 a piece for headlight assemblys???
I accidentally posted this in the general lighting are but think this will be more specific. So I'm really interested in getting some Halo's for my 98' LS400 but..... The ones on my car are faded and I would rather just get new ones, problem is all the replacements say NON HID, and it seems that the only ones I CAN find are from actual Lexus Dealerships, my car came factory with HID's, but seriously, I don't know how they justify $1,500 bucks JUST because they are for HIDs... Rant part over, question part... Is there really a significant difference in the back of the housing?

Yeah, I know that, but what if all I need is the physical housing? I know that other stuff i'snt integrated... From how the dealerships website wrote it, it is easy to take it as just the physical headlight housings are 1500, know if it is complete than I have nothing to rant about and still want to know if all the HID equip including the auto leveler would bolt up to a bare housing.

the blanks are there but transferring the autolevelling stuff over will be a REAL pain in the *** and require prodigious use of a dremel since the holes needed for the autolevel won't be there. you'd also have to take your BRAND NEW headlight apart to somehow transfer the movable reflector from the HID to the Non-HID housing.
generally just not worth it. there are ways to save the plastic lens, search for it.
thanks for the compliments

Options , since i think i have teh most experiance in LS headlighrts as i own a few sets and have done halos.
1 buy a new case only , lexus does sell a whole assembly but it also sells a case with a new level motor ,no bulbs not ballast and no covers.
It is usually 500 per side instead.
2 send me the set and for 500 i would install the halos and clean up the lights to make them look new again. (kidding)

Thanks , i like the car 2.
How hard is it to install them ? As mentioned it is not really a special skill involved , jsut alot of time and patience otherwise it will crack the lens , which does crack easily.
The halo's just need a steady hand and someone who is technically apt to run the wires where they won't get damaged by securing them and then mounting the halo ballast.
With the service most are getting from AAC as of late i am not sure i would trust getting the halos installed by them never mind sending them anything to do in a timely manner.
