Ok see if this makes any sense. When I was driving the other day the AC control panel went out. When I got home I replaced a blown 15 fuse under the dash with a 20 fuse and switched the key to on but did not crank it. The panel lit up again so problem fixed right? When I started it the next day the panel was dark again and the 20 fuse was blown. I drove it and did not have time to deal with it. This morning I pulled the fuse back out and replaced it again. I switched the key on and the AC control lights came on. But when I turned the key all the way nothing hapend. No attemted start or anything.

I took the fuse out, put the blown one back in, any combanation but still, no start. I dont even know if it has anything to do with the fuse or anything but if it isnt it seems an odd coincedence.

Also when I turn the key to start it the only thing that happens is all the lights on the AC control panel, thermostat, and even radio go dark. When I let off the key back to ACC they come back on. Electrical problem of some kind can anybody help me out?

Did you check to see if the cables in the fuse box have been tightened up?

In the engine compartment, there is a fuse box. There are two sets of master cables there that screw in from the bottom. If any of them are loose, it will give this type of symptom.

BTW, you should never change or "up" the value of the fuse. If it's 15, it should stay at 15.

I changed it back to a 15 yes. I checked all of the fuses and the cables running to the box under the hoood. (actually a 20 was blown but replacing it did noot fix anything as far as starting it) Also the batt and alternator are fine. There is no *clicking* when I turn the key like if the batt was dead. I hope somebody can help out becase the alternative to fixing it is having it towed to a mechanic and I probably cant afford all thit right now.

i think you can not replace a 15 amp fuse with 20 amp fuse!

Can you tell us which fuse(s) were the ones that were blown?

The one for the AC control, the 15 under the dash. And the 20 to the far left on the engine compartment.(looking at it from the very front of the car)

I went through the exact same issue today. I had no power to my radio or climate control unit. After I replaced the radio fuse under the dash the car will not engage the starter. Lucky, how did you finally get it fixed?

That being three years ago I dont remember exactly, I thing my AC clutch was siezed up, causing the fuse to blow whenever I tried to engage the AC, somewhere along the line of diagnosing the problem the ignition fuse was pulled out by me or blown somehow.
