Default DIY // LS400 Headlight Restoration // Before & After

DISCLAIMER:
Use this guide at your own risk. I cannot guarantee that it will work for everyone. I cannot guarantee that everyone will be happy with the results. I do not recommend this unless if your headlights are really really bad as mine were. Furthermore, this guide is intended to assist those who planning to replace their foggy headlights & saving some cash by trying at least first to restore the existing headlights. You are responsible for your own actions.

i hope u put a coat of wax over that...or ur gonna need to do it again in a month. all plastx does is remove the oxidizing UV blocker on the headlights. if u put a layer(s) of wax then it'll act as the uv blocker.

Instead of the coat of wax, I would use a spray-can clear coat. LiCelsior is correct, it will oxidize even faster without it.

Another method of restoring plastic headlight lenses is to refinish them with a Crystal View kit -- http://www.myheadlight.com/

Both Photoinc and I refinished our headlights with Crystal View -- he provided before and after photos: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls4...eadlights.html

The Crystal View kit includes a clear sealer that smells like lacquer. The sealer dries as hard as a rock and provents the lenses from fogging up again.

The layer of dirt is the uv coating that has deteriorated.
Better add something back soon or it will yellow and return ,
A sealer or clear bra works best.

but all this only applied to plastic housing, but for 1st gen JDM headlight glass housing, it does not apply to us 1st gen guy.
