Default Mudflaps question

i just got these EDM mudflaps from a 1ls

are there any difference in them at all? mine are not fitting all too well with having to whip out the dremel. soo my other question is..

the 90-92 bodys... would the mudflaps be that different from the 93-94?

93-94 is still a 1LS. Same dimensions bodywise. About 50 improvements over the earlier models, but still the same body.

What does "EDM" mean?

If you are talking about the gen 1 LS400 mudflaps that were available as an official Lexus accessory, then installation does take some drilling. I may still have the installation instructions I used to install them on my 90 LS but they are a little difficult for me since they are in Japanese.

The lower body cladding on the 93-94 LS is thicker than on the 90-92 LS400. I would be surprised if the two series of the gen 1 LS used the same mudflaps but I can't say for certain.

When I installed the mudflaps on my 90 LS, they fit like a glove -- fit the contours of the lower body cladding perfectly.

You can look up the part numbers for the two series of gen 1 LS400's here: http://www.t o y o d i y.com/ Remove the spaces from the website URL to make it work.

alright thanks for the input mine dont fit that all too well. i ask because the 90-92 had the thinner side pieces and i guess no side skirts? vs the 93-94. i'll take a look at the site when i get a chance.

oh EDM as European Domestic market.

What you are calling "European Domestic market" mudflaps should fit the U.S. spec LS400 just fine. U.K. and European spec Lexus cars are different from U.S. models in an incredible number of ways but not in this regard.

The mudflaps I bought from a U.K. Lexus deaker in 1990 (before Lexus offered them in the U.S. as an accessory) fit my U.S. spec 90 LS400 perfectly. I am not certain but I think mudflaps were standard in all model years of the LS400 in both the U.K. and in all European countries.

Have you even seen a Lexus LS with mudflaps from Lexus? They are nothing like aftermarket mudflaps and are barely noticable. They are pretty darned nice if you drive in snow, on gravel roads or on roads where oil byproducts are used to seal the road surface -- prevents damage and oil from getting on the car. Nobody is asking you to put mudflaps on your car.

In the attached photo, can you see the mudflaps the 1990 LS400 I bought new and then drove 13 1/2 years? Hard to tell isn't it? Both my next door neighbor amd I bought new 1990 LS400s and both of us installed Lexus mudflaps. We both even installed the stainless steel wheel trim of the type that was popular back then on Mercedes S-class cars.

Here is a photo showing my 2000 LS400 and its mudflaps -- the 95-00 Lexus LS mudflaps are even smaller than the ones on the 90-94 LS400 and even harder to see.
