Help needed LS400 - entry lights and radio lights
Hello everyone, I am new here. Just bough a 1991 LS400 with many problems, have already spent several 100 on items: new water pump, fan idler pulley bracket, timing belt kit, antenna mast, all 3 motor mounts new upper control arms, new seats next week unless someone has NICE gray ones for sale and the list goes on,'''BUT I am happy that I have it!
Now, my first time getting in the car at night, and no lights come on when I insert key into door lock ...normal? when I open door only door lights under arm rests come on but no others such as overhead again..normal? if not where do I start?
and my radio works fine except FM1 and FM2 buttons (Pioneer) will not light all others do, must be small bulb there that is out, how do I repair?
Thanks...have other stuff but enought for a start.
Thank you, Marcel in Louisiana.

Is your overhead light switch set to the door position? If it is, you may have something as simple as a burnedout bulb.
As far as the radio lighting, this is a common problem. Really you gotta remember that this car is now 18 years old and the light is most lightly original. If you are handy with tools you can replace it yourself(alot of work though). There are also companies who can just change out the lights but you have to send in the unit. We have a vendor here in the forums by the name of O.L.T who can do the lighting so you may want to drop them a pm(private message) to see what their charge is. Here is a thread that he is currently running in the vendor forum,,

You can also check out www.lexls.com. this site will also answer ALOT of DIY questions you may have.

if this turns out to be a bulb replacement issue, i say go for LED ultra whites
i just changed out all the bulbs in my LS to ultra white LED and the thing lights up my whole world at night, a lot better than those useless yellow lighting bulbs

The only way you get PM's (private messages) is if someone send you something. Other than that, at the top of the screen there is a line of prompts under the PM box in which one of them is search feature. You can go there and either do a quick search or an advanced search. All you have to do there is drop the keywords in and you will come up with every thread which has your keyword in it or even addresses your possible problem. There really isnt too much here about the LS which hasnt been discussed before, so if you are experiencing problem and have questions, is best to use the search feature to possible find an answer. Can be a tedious process sometimes but you will also gain valuable knowledge about the car in the process as well. If, after searching, you still cannot find an answer then throw the question up in open forum.
