Default 00, DONG sound while change gear from P to D

While releasing parking brake in unlevel ground and changing gear from ' P ' to ' D ', i hear a sound like ....dong coming from the gear.

BTW in LEVEL ground no problems, sounds for the same at all.

Is that normal? ANY Ideas?

You should use Parking brake before you put car in P. The noise is from a pin coming off from under load of the car.

It may be the reminder for the car moving while the parking brake is engaged. Your cable may be sticking ,causing the pedal to not return fully up.

it sounds to me like the pressure being applied on the parking brake is being released

when pressing brake all down way + changing gear from P to D , it does not make the 'DONG' sound, It is something that I would say that the brakes (parking brake) are not catching the gear strong enough while shifting gear from P to D in unlevelled ground.

BTW sounds only comes when parking brake is applied and gear on P, then releasing the parking brake with pressing foot brakes + shifting gear from P to D on unlevel ground.
What you guys suggest!

When parking on an incline, you apply the parking brake, then shift to P. After releasing brake pedal (foot brake), does the car move? If so, the parking brake needs to be adjusted. The only movement you should feel is the weight of the car being transferred to the down hill side suspension, not the wheels moving.

I did a quick google search and found that as suggested before, it could be either your transmission or motor mount that needs replacing.

the normal brakes WONT make the dong sound... its the parking brake being released quickly after being stuck...

Qewani,
(this is what I do)
All you have to do is use parking brake (fully) before before going from (D or R) to P, and let the parking brake remain when removing from P to (D or R). Remove at D or R.

The best time to apply Parking brake is in N. Let it take the full weight of the car before going to P.

I hope I made sense.
