Help on replacing P/S seat belt in '96 LS400
I've searched for the last two weeks the various posts relating to seat belts and although my problem is very common, I have not found a lot of help in replacing my '96 LS400 P/S seat belt. I bought a new unit from Park Place Lexus in Dallas yesterday at what seems to be a good price, but the installation instructions provided aren't detailed, at all. I've not removed the unit from the packing yet, but I can see the lever that requires turning after installation, which I assume prevents the unit from retracting completely and rendering the unit useless.
Any info on precautions WRT the charge capsule with the blue dye is welcome. I gather only a 10 mm and 14 mm socket is required, although I did notice one post that alluded to a star socket being required.
I'm fairly handy and have installed new spark plugs, rear knuckle bushings, alternator, etc., in this car and even an airbag control unit in a Mazda and can and do read instructions when I can find them.
As for the trim pieces, it looks like they just snap out--correct? Since it is electrical, I would disconnect the battery. Thanks for your help and hope to hear from you soon.

make sure you disconnect your battery first. you can pop the air bag. you want to removed all the 14mm screws from the seat, all the screw covers pop off with a flat head. once you get that off make sure you unplug the wire harness under the seat. you can tip it over or what not. you want to unbolt the 14mm going into the seat. than you pull off all the panels. there will be a screw for the unit and a screw for the seat belt slider. you want to unlatch the leveler when you remove the seat belt unit as shown on the diagram on the belt unit. install the new one and hit the lever down. you want to torque the screw for the unit at 59ft lbs torque but i would have to double check. the one going into the seat at 32ft lbs torque. you can do all the seat bolts at 30ft lbs
just pm me if you need more clarification i can take pictures because i have my 95 ls400 apart right now

Thanks to all for your help on this--literally took about forty-five minutes from start to finish. BTW, the button that needs to be pushed before removal of the unit is a red tab in the cavity by the lever's shaft--I used a knitting needle to push it and the lever pops straight up and down! I did disconnect my battery just in case. A twelve point 14 mm socket is needed for the bolt on the SB height adjuster--otherwise, a 10 mm and care is all that's needed! New belt works great--got it at Park Place Lexus in Dallas for $142.16 plus tax if in Texas. Shipping is free when ordered on line! Let me know if you have any questions!
