Looking for new FRONT brake pads for 1995-2000 LS 400. What brand are you using and how do you like the performance? Quality/Price/Dust/Fade/ etc. Let's hear what you got.

That's such a PD response.

Stock...no dust. The lousy So. Cal traffic allows them to last near forever since one seldom is able to drive above 15 MPH.

I am doing a BBK front upgrade on my SC and yeah I hear the OEM ones are fine. I hear you about traffic, Houston is not much better. But quite often we get to do 85mph WITH bumper to bumper traffic which is quite the thrill.

I use Wagner Thermo Quiet ceramic pads - low dust and they work like OEM did.

I'm considering these Axxis pads on my 91LS...

http://www.brakewarehouse.com/axxis1.asp

Will these work okay with the OEM rotors? Will I see an improvement over the OEM pads?

Also wondering how significant an improvement there is to upgrading to stainless brake lines. Is it really worth it?

Thanks

yes they work fine.
yes, it's a noticeable improvement.
depends, read up on past posts, personally i think that if you have newer OEM hoses you're fine, but if you want them it couldnt hurt too much.

Thanks... I'm seeing good reviews of Satisfied Brakes GS6 Carbon/Ceramic pads too. I think I'll do the stainless brake lines along with it. Everyone seems to be in agreement that it increases pedal feel/stiffness which I think would be an improvement. Plus mine are 18yrs old and would benefit from a replacement just for general safety reasons.

They've been making the Ultimates for years actually. One of my favorite street pads!

Where did you find them? I looked for them earlier this year and no luck. Their website says they don't make them for the 95-97 LS400's.

I too have EBC Reds.

They claim to be 60% - 90% less dust, but they are EXTREMELY dusty pads. I'd almost say they're in yellow/blue stuff territory as far as dust.

They're fairly quiet, with minor squeaking upon first press of the pedal after prolonged brake-less driving, but goes away after second depression of pedal.
