99 LS wine when a.c. is engaged
This is strange, when the a.c. is turned on, a wine from the left(pass. side) of the lower front of the car starts. Air blows cold, a.c. button not blinking, nothing strange. You cannot hear sound from inside car, only if you get out.
Wine goes up/down with the RPM's, and stops completely when you turn a.c. off, starts when you turn the a.c. on again. I did research/search this, but nothing exactly close. Even heard the Youtube video of bad compressor, and mine is not that loud or corse sounding, plus the a.c blows really cold. Am I about to get bent over for BIG $$ again??
I am going so broke.

I hope you all will understand, I have had it with this car. It is the a.c. compressor, but they don't know how long it will survive, weeks, months? Plus with the steering rack leaking, spark plugs needed, and the struts/control arms clunking, It's OVER !! I am looking at another $4000.00 in repairs!! I am disgusted at the cheap, crappy, EXPENSIVE parts constantly breaking. I have spent $4000.00 so far, to try to keep this 1999 LEXUS LS on the road. I am now convinced that a LEXUS is not made to survive over 100k, unless you spend stupid money, to keep these heaps running. I feel like a fool. My M3 had more miles, and nothing, nothing broke, leaked, or pissed me off like this car.
So I am doing something I still can't believe I am doing. I am buying a low milage LS 430. Hopefully it will be better, and the 100k warranty they offered helped in my decision. I hope you visit the LS 430 site.
And I hope this car rusts in hell.
I must be totally mental,
David

Solution?? The solution is to spend $2000.00 on a new compressor. The solution is to spend $800.00 for a rear main seal, the solution is to spend $300. for spark plugs! The final solution is to find another car that is more reliable than a Yugo.

Atl, these are things that go out on every car, what's the mileage on yours? for the most part, with regular maint. the LS400 is proven to be very very reliable.
now if it wasn't maintained properly then it, like any other car, will have a disproportionally large amount of things go wrong.

It is totally cursed, and as for maintenance, it has gone to Lexus for everything except the tires. The gaskets, rear main seal, compressor, and leaking steering rack, in my opnion, should not have packed it in before 120K miles, this is disgusting. Hope yours runs forever!

Sorry To bump such an Old Thread but my 90 LS Sounds like its Super Charged when i have the AC and am at or above 2000 RPM. When its at idle you dont hear anything. but Step on it and it sounds as if im getting high boost hahaha. now my Question. Is my Compressor going out?
