Default Stuck in park?

LS400 230K miles. I tried to put the car in drive and could not remove it from park...it is stuck in park. Do you have any experience with what this might be and a fix?

thank you!

you are pressing the brake down right....
the brake switch or neutral safety switch are gone.

Yeah, brake light switch is likely the culprit. You should have a slot next to the shifter that you can put your key in to release the lock out temporarily. You'd have to do that each time you need to get it out of park until the switch is replaced. Oh yeah, and your brake lights probably don't work, so be mindful of that. Get the switch replaced asap.

As stated above...a good way to know if it is the brake switch is to see if your brake lights are working when you push on the pedal...if no lights then the brake switch is bad.
