Default Twin Turbo

Just talked to a mechanic who worked with LS400's before. He actually turboed that car. Here is what he told me:

There is absolutely no space in that car to work with. He had to take out the engine, put 2 small turbos on it and run them at 8psi (more then enough for a v8). The cost of such project would be around 6k with parts and everything. I might be heading that way if I find a newer engine.

For 6k, I think that you are better off getting 2JZ-GTE import from Japan or Thailand. I'm not too sure about the price of the block in Japan but in Thailand the price is around 55,000-160,000 Thai baht (around $1,250-$3,600 USD) There will be a variety range of them from stock 280hp manual or automatic or already modified( 300-650hp) which will cost more than the stock one. But usually the price is around $1,250-$3,600USD) which is very cheap. Keep in mind that for that price the engine come with gearbox, intercooler etc. The engine will be ready to swap. Or if you think that 2J is a little bit to expensive. You can go with 1JZ-GTE which will cost around 35,000-130,000 Thai bath (around $800-$2,970USD it will be the same format as the 2J. I don't know any importer that can import them to the United States but if you have one there will be a wide range of them in Thailand (Bangkok) since 1J and 2J are very popular in Thailand, people put them in E36BMW, MB E class, Nissan Cefiro, Nissan 200SX(S13 and S14) etc, and if anybody interested in pictures I can post it.
So maybe you want to look into J engine, they are well build and most engine are very low mile which is about 5000-60000km (around 3100mile-37000mile)

How hard it is to swap a 2JZ-GTE to a LS 400? Would the tranny work? What about clutch pedal? How much HP are we expecting from 2JZ-GTE stock form. What about electronic harness?

I would show you a 2jzgte LS400 if I can get a hold of a scanner.

It has around 670 hp and a six speed manual tranny.

Wow, I wonder how much it cost them to do that. Someone has got to do that but drop the exterior mods. It would be the ULTIMATE sleeper:eek:
