Exclamation 90' ls400 temp gage & RPM outta wack any suggestions??

my temp gage is way too hot it just started getting jacked up a week ago and the RPM has always been lower than zero but still moves under zero as i run the car and when changes gear and the temp gage is one line away from the red zone, when i start it up in the morning while the car is cool it automatically jumps to about two lines any ideas on how to fix this....i need some help please and thank you davisk......

might be a capacitor problem....refer to the instrument sticky on the top of the forum. if the rpm needle is under 0 then someone mustve tampered with it and broke the little pin that holds the needle at 0.

I'm having the same problem w/ my '95. My temp gauge is bottomed out (doesn't ever move) and my speedometer is shady. Speedometer jumps up & works after it warms up though. I read the sticky on the speedometer to replace the speed sensor but what about the temp gauge? Is there a 'temp sensor' in there as well?? RPM's work fine though...

i fixed my rpm i just took out the cluster and moved it back up and works fine but my temp is still jacked up....i think u can rigg a direct line from your temp sensor from the engine bay because i did it to a s13 and the temp works fine youd just have to find the sensor and run it strait to your temp in the cluster.....and for the speedometer you would have to change the speed sensor i believe its on the tranny ive never tooken this car apart i barely had it for a week but i have a lot of experience with s13's and everything else so im going by what i know still need to take this car and put it into pieces to learn it......and that temp thing i havent tried it yet but will soon when i have time....thanks guys
