Default Will this work to replace the stock sub?

Just bought a 91 ls400 for my girlfriend and the sub is blown. Does anyone know if this sub will work? I don't know too much about audio specs...

I'm not really concerned about upgrading to a 10" or anything I just want a good sounding 8" replacement that's cheap. If anyone knows any other subs that will work let me know. I'm just looking to swap it out with NO MODS!!! lol

i think u need to worry about ohms here, i believe, and correct me if im wrong, but the stock stereo wont push an 8 ohm woofer well enough, it needs to be 4 ohm....i could be way off base here

It needs to be 2ohm.

Subwoofer : Rockford Fosgate P2D48 @$100.00 (wired for 2ohm!) Fits perfectly using the plastic speaker spacers from old sub. This thing kicks! Much improved over OEM.

It looks like it comes as a 4ohm.

How do you get it to be a 2ohm?

its a DVC 4 ohm, wire the 2 voice coils in parallel and you have a 2ohm load.

only problem is that i wouldnt use that subwoofer, you need something made to run infinite baffle aka "free air".

i know this might be a little off topic but i have aftermarket subs in my trunk and the sound seems pretty restricted. is there any way to get more sound in the cabin? would taking out the OEM sub improve this?

Yes. It's more than sufficient to let the bass in.

OK, i have a '96 ls and i tried taking out the sub but i could only get to two of the bolts holding it in, the other two are covered by the carpet covering behind the rear seats. how can i get to them?

You may need to remove the rear seat so you can lift on on the rear deck lid a little. It doesn't take much space but I believe the rear seat back may hold the front of the deck lid down.
