it would be marginally louder but depending on how it was put together it would be raspy.

Mines a bit raspy through 3000K when its first started. Would resonated tips fix this problem?

possibly, don't judge the sound for 2-3 months after installation to let the system break in (carbon bedding)

I've put about 1,100 miles on it. It seems to sound a bit quieter.

What about us Cali guys who want to keep the center cat for smog reasons - can an X-pipe be used before the cat, a less restrictive cat, or use a Magnaflow/Flowmaster Y-pipe in place of the stock junction?

I'm thinking of either a crossover welded onto the pipes leading to the cat or a Magnaflow Y-pipe where the OEM Y-bend is when I get around to this exhaust business.

since my cats where in perfect shape i had my exhaust started right AFTER the 2nd O2 sensor, replacing the stock Y-pipe and center resonator with an X-Pipe.

I thought X-pipes are placed close to the engine as possible?

Yeah the X-pipe should be put in as soon as possible, or so I've heard.

Hey Brandon it's been a while I hate to say this but I think my car has a similar tone to the IS-F now? hahaha
At least it does at idle. just a nice mellow purr. I need some more vids! Maybe I'll go do that today!
