Did mine today and immediately my idle went from 400 to 650-700 rpm's when at operating temp. Everyone needs to do this. I went to O'Reilly's and got their OEM quality replacement for $16. I can't complain

I replaced mine today. Took me about 30mins or so, and wasn't too bad to get to. I bought the one from O'reilly's also for $16.

So far it seemed to start up and run smoother on a cold start. After it's warmed up, I haven't really noticed a gain in power but it seems to be a bit better throttle response. WOT seems about the same, but much cruising in traffic seems to mucher smoother. Thanks for the DIY!

Here's a pic of the sensor that came out. It just broke in half after taking it out.

Mine definitely needed it as well.

I'm the most mechanically inept person ever, and *I* managed to change mine today with no problems...took me about an hour. Didn't remove the intake or the passenger side spark plug cover, just the engine cover and the plastic intake covers in the front as well as the coil pack. I have small hands so I was able to get to the sensor by just pushing the spark plug wires ever-so-slightly out of the way, still in their plastic channel.

Took a bit of effort to remove with a 3/4" deep socket, and I broke the plug on the old one (not that I cared). No fluid came out at all; if that has anything to do with me removing the coolant cap, releasing the pressure and putting it back on, I don't know.

Put it all back together and everything showed normal. Haven't had a chance to really test the throttle response yet, but I'm about to fill up, so I can report back on mileage in a few days.

Are the sensors all the same on ucf20? I want to replace mine as well, and went to get it at the lexus dealership.

But not sure if a JDM spec has the same coolant sensor as eur/us spec?

which UCF20?

'95-97 are similarly located but use different part numbers.
'98-00 are slightly different in location and use different part numbers.

I will order then from a 1995 lexus ls 400 and compare the numbers.

My new 99 has CEL code P0125 .. insufficient coolant temperature for closed loop. and said faulty thermostat.
I replaced the stat and it was faulty (see photos), but it reset the same code, so I am going to R&R the ECT sensor, and see what happens.. I will follow up... any one else have a P0125 CEL???

SUCCESS! no more codes. I got the ETC sensor at O'Reilly for 15$ +tax, Autozone was 45$. Jon put it in for me, and it is finished, Oh, and it turned over 230000k on my way home...

WELL !! its back p0125 cowboy said the gauge sensor is a 1 wire sensor next to the 2 wire...
can you be sure about that for a 99? what is the part number for a 99?? I see that in the 97 and older but have not found a 98 & up photo.... any help??
