Default VSC Check Engine FIX

Ever since I bought the car 2 years ago, I had the problem with VSC light coming on at start up and staying on for 10 seconds. After 10 seconds it would go away, as long as I left the car in PARK for those 10 seconds.

Well 2 days ago, CHECK ENGINE light came on along with the VSC. Disconnecting the battery for 10 seconds would get rid of the warning light, but only for a day.
So I ran the codes at Auto Zone and it came back to be P505 or something like that, Idle control valve.
I cleaned the Throttle body, it was dirty, cleaned all the electrical connections with a spray. The codes are off so far, but I will have to see.

Next I decided to clea by battery terminals. My positive cable has another cable attached to it. I separated them and cleaned them really well. After reinstalling everything I was rewarded by the VSC light going to normal operation and goin away after a second of startup.
I am hoping, that both of these problems where linked to each other. Battery is new by the way.

So for those with VSC, or Check engine problems. Start with the simple stuff like cleaning all electrical plugs and connectors really well. Its Free.

all you needed to do was reseat the battery terminals.
the "Check VSC" warning is a precursor to needing a new battery

I did reseat the cables many times. Didn't help. Battery is new as well. So that wasn't it.

If the light turns on at start up you are not getting enough power to turn the starter over and the computers are going dead and resetting once it starts.

So if you are convinced it is not your battery like everyone else with the start up problem you need to find why you have no voltage.

Well its fine now. Its been fixed. I think the battery terminals where and are a bit old and crappy. But I cleaned them and all is well now.

Had this issue today after cleaning my car. After reading re that it may be battery related i went out and checked. Seems that when cleaning under the bonnet the battery terminal got knocked and although there was enough to start the car it seems the VSC didnt like it. The battery terminal is loose on my car so will get a new battery and remake all connections to it just to be certain.
So if your having any VSC problems just to reiterate - check your battery first.

Cheers

note sure if this is entirely true.... mine started doing it weekly, giving a gas pedal position sensor code. turned out my power wire on my amp had been resting on it and bumped it down. i moved the power wire, bumped it up no problem since.

Seems like I didn't fix my problem. As soon as the car starts moving the lights come on. All I did was clean the car including detailing under the hood. does any.e have any idea what may be causing this. I also undid the brake fluid reservoir cap if that makes any difference.

Does this also refer to the 98-00 model vvti because I'm getting the notorious check engine and vsc off triggering a code vvti malfunction.

Sorry to bump an old thread but I prolly have needed a new battery since I got it. $50 walmart battery. Do ya recommend I go for a new one from say oreilly or the "expensive" $99 one at walmart? Check vsc sometimes comes on at startup then goes away. Other times it comes on at start and stays on. Most of the time it comes one within a few minutes of startup and running. I was gonna change the alternator as it was soaked in atf fluid. Note it was cleaned by mechanic but still wanna change it.

Battery went down to 9.6v when starting....it's been replaced with a 750cca unit from Walmart for $93. So far no check vsc but then again I haven't driven it more than 30 miles since
