if its a heat issue it most likely can't be fixed and needs to be replaced.

id post a pic and wait for one of the 1st gen guys to take a look...

sounds like a heat issue and i guess when u took out the dash, u released the pressure that was being held in place and its now sticking out. thats my guess though.

Definately post a pic, so we can better see wat your situation is. As some of the pthers have said, it sounds heat related and may have to be replaced.

I've seen my dad fix these on the Toyota Crown before.

It was one of these, lifted on the upper lip.

Essentially you need to make it accessible (remove the vent) and apply a healthy serving of contact cement (available most hardwares and even walmart). Allow it to dry completely on both surfaces (as per instructions).

Most importantly, when putting the surfaces into contact to actually stick them together you need to use something to physically hold them together. A good old pair of locking pliers with a piece of wood or something to blunt the contact point will do nicely.

Once the cement sets you're good to go.

Check out the Crown here. Amazing machine. A lot of it the basis for our 1st gen LS400's. The one my dad owned actually had a 1uz-fe in it.

I'd still like to see if I could get this to go into my LS.

Never heard of that before, checked the website and it looks quite different, more like an epoxy.

I've used JB Weld to fix my dash problems, next time I'll use some body shop grade 2-part SEM or Fusor plastics adhesive.

I have a "buldge" in that same spot on my 90. I guess it's common.

Can't say I'm surprised to see dash problems...it's been a hot MF here the last couple of days. I seriously think I could have fried an egg on my dash yesterday.

I have the same thing in the same spot on my 91. I'll probably get it taken care of later this year when she goes in the shop for a body kit and paint.
