90-94 Aftermarket Intake Owners in Houston.. help me out?
Anyone in houston willing to meetup and let me try on their intake?
Ill bring lunch!
Reason being is that my car seems like it cant breathe on full throttle and the car is hesitating/hiccuping and am wondering if a simple aftermarket intake replacement will fix it.

u can find out if it is an intake prob by just replacing the filter with a new clean one. if that doesnt get rid of it, then no a new aftermarket intake wont b the solution. try cleaning the throtle body and make sure that ur there are no vacuum leaks. my car used to do the same and it turned out to b that one of the breather hoses came off.
although, i did replace my intake with an aftermarket intake later just for the fun of it (injen) i love the sound it makes makes ur engine sound beastly.

kk ill try
I got my full 90k done including waterpump but they couldnt figure it out at the lexus specialist shop.
That wasnt part of the deal anyways but they said itd take 2 hours to diagnose it properly. ill try the little stuff first and see if it helps.

After you clean it all up maybe run Sea Foam or another additive every few months? I have been running Sea Foam 2-3 times a year and it seems to keep things nice and clean
BTW I live in North Houston and wish I knew someone with a cold air intake to try on my 95 also brother - I wonder if it makes a big difference also.

The thing about this style is the you get a mix of hot air from the engine bay, I am rolling stock right now again, until I perfect my custom intake cold air-box that is similar to the stock enclosure at my shop out of aluminum and plexi. I will post pics once I have it perfected, but I can tell you I have already gone through 3 prototypes, it's a tight squeeze in there and it will take time to get it right, but once I do I will have the digital file for the CNC machine to reproduce.

Oh yes,
seen guys mill these up over here in Australia, They refer to them as a POD to MAF adaptor. (looks nice the one you have pictured) but back to back dyno tests suggest stock is the better way to go, (as you said heat is a problem, I have an idea (its slightly dodgy but turbo boys do it all the time) Why cant you cut a hole run a 90 degree bend after the MAF thru the guard and seal off the pod on the otherside outside the engine bay.
A cheaper way of doing what is done here is to just take the front half of the airbox off, stick the filter in, find some old door rubbers u got laying around, trim them to fit around the perimeter of the filter so that when you use the ring clamp it makes a nice seal.
Just made a heap of noise really, did sound good (but being a typical tappy 1uz it made the tapping from the intake shims louder, which is embarrising
LOL)
I was hoping this was going to be more of a over-sized over the radiator plastic type of cold air induction.
I seen a picture of one on a celsior on a japanese website once and wish I knew where i could get my hands on one.
Maybe might be able to adapt one from a LS1 or alike. But now im just thinking out loud.
Cheers for the pics tho mate,
Appreciate it.
