New LS400 Owner with some questions
Hey All, I just picked up a hell of a deal on a 1996 Lexus LS400 with a tad over 50k in original miles for $5600. The car has some minor cosmetic issues like bumper scrapes and scratches here and there, but overall it's in good shape.
I do have a couple of questions:
Are there any common steering linkage or front suspension problems that these cars are prone to have? The radio LCD is out, deciding whether to replace the head unit or replace the LCD itself, if I replace the head unit it will be an after market, any suggestions? Will all the speakers including the sub and the cd changer still work?
I'm not sure if it's just the strut that's blown, but going over some bumps it's pretty harsh like it just hits the bumpstop or something...any help or suggestions appreciated.

The gaff on these cars is leaking power steering pump, front upper control arms (your problem), LCD displays going black, instrument panel going wonky. Most expensive is the uppercontrol arms but it will soften the blow if you can DIY, it's not a big job. You have 2 options, new controls arms or 2) rebush the old ones with Daizen poly bushes if the ball joint is ok. The complete arm is very pricey and the ball joint is part of it.
