Did you flush it or drain n fill or full fluid replacement?

you'l need to drain fill like 3-4 times to get all the dexron out, best bet is paying $80-100 once to get it all flushed out with T-IV.

the other fluid has a tendency to make the TC slip very badly, overheating and killing it.

Yeah, only use Toyota IV fluid. I've noticed that these tranny's dont like other fluids very much.

Has anyone tried using Lucasoil in the trans with the factory fluid 20% lucas / 80% factory fluid ? Or does that have the same catastrophic effect as using a synthetic trans oil?

When taking the tranny drain pan cover off to get to the filter, will that seal need to be replaced (under normal wear conditions)? Also, I was told that the filter could be just CLEANED, and that replacement was not necessary. Any truth to this?

Thanks.

Default Recently used Amsoil UATF

Last drain & Fill was with Amsoil.

Seems to shift smooth and crisp. I like it!

Default Transmission oil

If you change the transmission oil (2 QTS) when you change the motor oil when should you change the transmission filter and is there one to change?

no, there is a screen that you COULD clean out but ud have to drop the whole trans. pan.

and the 2qts is only a drain and fill, you'll need approx 8-15 if u want to flush.

make sure to use only Toyota T-IV transmission fluid, nothing else will work properly.

YES!! Make sure you only use Toyota/Lexus Fluid! I think its type IV

I did not take any chances I had the dealer do it for $160 bucks. The dealer is a rip off buy I did not want to take any chances, with someone screwing it up.

Default PS Filter

$160.00, bro, I think you did get ripped off. I just bought the transmission filter at Advance Auto Part for $38.00. If you check out the LexLS Tutorial on changing the Trans filter you can see is a pretty easy job. You can do it yourself or have a mechanic do it for less than fifty dollars.

I just cleaned power steering Solenoid and changed one of the O2 Sensors for 30 dollars. I Showed the mechanic the LexLS tutorial and he went from there. Everyhting took lass than an hour. I think we spent more time viewing the tutorials to make sure we knew what we were doing.

A lot of the maintanance can be done by a local mechanic, however, that is if you trust your mechanic to do it and if you dont mind getting a litte dirty yourself.

It is very easy to do the 2 qt drain and fill when you are changing your oil. Just a drain plug to remove on the bottom of the transmission.

Yes it is very easy to do.. I did mine about two days ago.. i just bought the transmission fulid from Kragen Autoparts.. I bought 8 quarts.. it cost me $27.00 for all eight.. I did the drain and refil twice.. i drained everything. refill it then drove for 20 minutes and repeat the drain and fill cycle.

Question: Is there any fully synthetic transmission fluid we can use?

Thank you..

what trans fluid did u buy?!!?

You HAVE to use Toyota T-IV fluid, which can ONLY be bought from a dealership.

sounds like u used regular old Dexron/Mercon fluid, you HAVE to flush it NOW, the transmission can be easily damaged if you dont, also you will experience MAJOR transmission glitches.
