Default Road Trip

So this week I took a trip down to San Louis Obispo and Santa Barbara with some friends for spring break, I ended up as the driver, and took my 91 LS with 215,000 and I didn't even realize how much of a beast this thing truly is...lol. I averaged about 90mph down 101 and still got 23mpg with a fully loaded trunk (i mean packed to the rim ) and 4 guys with some of our gear in the front haha. There were two 7% grades and it felt like the car didn't even notice we were going up hill (some lady hit the brakes at the beginning like an idiot so my momentum wasn't even there from the start on one of them but i was doin 80 in no time again), the suspension was so smooth even with a fully loaded car too (which isn't surprising) but it was nice to know my car handled so well and had so much power, and until now I hadn't really done any trips like this. It is not surprising that the car handled great but it seems to impress me more and more as time passes. Although the front of my car was literally painted with bugs when i got back, haha, so i had to wash it good.

With all that gear in the trunk and 4 bodies inside=free lowering job.

Glad to see someone enjoying the car on the open road. Road trips are awesome, all you need is a good car and a will to go far.

I take long drives often. Cannt wait for weather to warm up a bit, go to Canada.

very true. soon as i get out of highschool my dad and me are going on a really long roadtrip all the way across the US. may or may not take the LS4, I had originally planned to do it by motorcycle and his ford explorer for practicality reasons.

Awesome road trip. Cool dad, and this trip will be with you for the rest of your life!!! Bike much be a little too much. I would take the LS for such a trip. Cheaper on fuel, easier to drive and so much smoother!!!

Oh I know...haha it helped figure ut how my car would look lowered...i decided i need to find some rims first though. Unfortunately i need to replace a few things before I upgrade, nothing major, but it sucks not being able to have what you want over what you need, heh.

Road trips are always great...although I have to say driving on your bike might get a little lonely with no one to talk to.

It never changes,.. no matter how 'old and wise' you become -- We all want what we want over what we need. Many times we make stupid purchases of say, something for 'looks' over something for reliability or even say suspension replacements, motor mounts, etc.

Yeah I've been down this lane a few times already...messin with my sound system figuring out which subs i want, haha my friend had 4 15's in his Charger, I felt it boom from the street inside the garage...that's just too much for me though, might need some new arm bushings and a power steering pump and my parents won't (and havent) thrown any money down for my car yet and it's tough trying to pay for a Lexus as a highschool student lol. So hopefully I can get these things done though, then maybe move to the stuff I want!!!
