Cleaned up LS throttle body - Pics
So this past Saturday I decided to finally go ahead and clean the throttle body on my LS. I followed all the procedures from lexls.com tutorial section. The only thing I did not do was take off the sensors off the throttle body.
Here are a few pics of before and after:
After:
I used GUMOUT and a flat head screw driver to get rid of the gunk. Oh, and a bunch of shop towels. I'd say there was a few mil of gunk thickness on the throttle body and intake.
The part number for the throttle body gasket is: 22271-50010 $11 at dealership
I also suggest buying the fat hose under the throttle body (pic below), part #: 12262-50010 $23 at dealership
The trickiest part of taking off the throttle body was taking off that coolant hose off of it. It took me a few more minutes than expected, but over all was a straight forward job.
The irony of this all is that I ended up selling my LS the next day. I was very sad to see the car go as it was in great shape, but at least I know it will be in good hands. Here are a few pics of the car before it left my house:
I guess I miss the car so much I've decided I post this thread. That's all folks!

Ever since I saw your carbon deposits, , Im thinking of cleaning mine as well. Looks like it cant hurt, and that it can only be beneficial for fuel economy.

Do you actually have to replace the TB gasket when you disconnect it from the intake manifold, or can you use it again if it is not destroyed?

Instead of a new "paper" gasket, could a guy use RTV silicone or another type of sealant to form-a-gasket? Or would it get too hot and just fall apart?

An 18 year old kid bought it with the help of his dad. I hooked him up with all the websites, so the dad tells me his son has plan for a VIP car. I'm sure he'll appreciate the goodies. I honestly miss this car. I'll eventually get another one, but newer (2000).
