I figure if i spend about $2k on the car its not bad. It will come out to be $4350 roughly for a great running lexus.

I paid 4200 for mine about a year ago with 107k on the clock.... came with every single receipt for work done, all at Lexus (timing belt, plugs, injectors... 60k and 90k mile maintance done)....also came with original sticker too.. i was pretty stocked about that!

I got my '92 for $3800. TB, water pump, ps pump, and etc. were replaced. It even had brand new leather seats (swapped them for two toned seats though) cold AC and everything worked/looked brand new. With just 132k miles on it, I figure I got a good deal.

hehe i got mine 91ls with 140k on the clock in almost mint condition interior and exterior just needed new hood shocks, and antenna and i got it for 750 bucks ;]

Purchased my 1994 LS 400 for $4495. Everything was fixed at that price. Interior is immaculate,.. 9.9/10. Exterior is Immaculate as well,.. aside from a bit of paint splatter near a wheel well, that I can get off with some elbow grease it is perfect. No wrecks , all service history, 2nd owner.

Came with Factory manuals, Factory sticker, Billfold key, remote door lock master key, and Valey key.

Was Lexus Certified before listed.

Also came with guarantee from owner (master mechanic) that if anything goes wrong with the engine/drivetrain within the next year the parts/labor are free. As an aside I get free labor for general maintenance/parts (Ie: if I want to put new shocks on it, etc) if I bring the parts to him, or give him the money to buy them himself.

So the price is a little higher than some of these listed thus far, but for a 9.9/10 Lexus with zero problems, I think it was very reasonable.

*The power steering pump is being replaced , but that was mentioned before purchase and is a free fix from the previous owner/mechanic.

I tend to think for a rare conditioned lexus of first Gen such as I found,.. anything between 4k-6k is fair. Most are not nearly as clean,.. so you can expect to pay between 1800-4k for most Gen I's at a *fair* price. I do know of a few people who pay substantially more than that for Gen I's .. and it still doesn't bother me because I think these cars are worth more than what they sell for,.. people just can't get more than that for them due to milage. (The basis other cars are priced upon used).

Your average car isn't near the quality the Lexus LS 400 , especially 90-2000 models,.. as such the mileage doesn't truly reflect the worth of the car.

I can compare 100k mileage on an LS400 with 30-50k on another decent car. If the car is clean and has been maintained, 100k *IS* low mileage for these cars considering it doesn't take a stroke of rare magical luck for them to run 350-400k without major engine/tranny trouble.

Good thread,.. not sure how many people visit this area who don't yet own an LS 400, but it is an awesome place to study if one is interested in the car.

Try to state where you guys are from, a car from houston will likely have heavy miles compared to a car in a smaller town and may sell at the same price. 200k miles for a small town car may seem super extreme where as a 200k mile car from a large city may seem normal.

Also, since on CL we can edit our posts, try to post a pic of your car inside and out to compare the condition!

My car:
91 LS400, silver/grey, 233k miles, body decent/interior wrecked, needed mechanical work. Chicago area.
I got mine for free (i work at a junkyard) but I put alot into it. Someone junked it because it had a bad timing belt/water pump. The power steering did not work, and it needed suspension work and tires. The seats were trashed, the carpet dirty. The car was loaded with everything but air ride (phone system, electric seatbelts, electric headrests) Around the same time this car came in we got 4 more LS's in which I scavenged a 100k mile engine/trans, and a bunch of misc parts to fix mine. I got so lucky.

All parts bought I searched for deals.

hehe.. I told you! I can't wait till I get the windows tinted, I think it will make a world of difference in the 'styling' of the exterior.

Good job on those seats btw, while not 100% factory , they look amazing. Good selection.

i got my 93 ls400 in jul 06 for 2175. got it on ebay. went to chicago to get it.
had some rust but otherwise looked and ran good. good leather, everything worked except,
tape player
remote key
driver seatbelt height adjuster.
broken driver door handle
broken cupholder lid.

As i racked up the miles i realized the rear suspension is in bad shape. pretty much every bushing in the rear needs to be replaced, along with shocks and springs.

i think i need some new sparks and wires as the wires have 1995 stamped on them! Along with some fluid flushes, i'm sure my car has a long life ahead of it.

it had 210 back then. it now has 250k.
