Ok, here are the pics as requested.
Firstly, Python, I still get my high beam indicator light on the dash and also have the separate high beam lamps illuminated as well as the higher angle on the HIDs. Mine is a 96 car and the headlamps are different from your 92 model.
These photos were taken against a metal garage door, probably not the best idea as its pretty reflective.
First one is low beam..............
Next, high beam. You can see the difference in colour temperature between the HIDs and the halogen type main beam only bulbs that are fitted to the original headlamps. I've left my main beam bulbs fitted as the lift between hi and low on the hids is significant so the halogen hi-beams in conjunction with the hid hi-beams give massive light out put on high beam. You may not be able to do this on a pre 95 car but it works wonders on the 95-97 series 3.........
Lastly, this one is against a wooden fence for slightly better definition........

That's a really good beam. Definitely better than mine because mine lets a bit more light out moving upward. Not an intense beam but a kinda light leakage of light.
I'd definitely be interested in seeing the type of bulb and shielding that created that beam but then we do have to take into consideration the fact that you're in the UK and thus have what might be the best lenses made for these cars.
